Assign people to homes

Give someone a home membership and a role at that home — the thing that decides what they can do there.

WHERE THIS LIVES IN ARC
Sidebar Company Admin Homes [the home] Home Members

Being in your company is not the same as working at one of its homes. The home membership is what puts a home in someone's home switcher and decides what they can do once they are in it.

Almost everything a person can do in ARC is resolved against their role at the home they are currently in — so the same person can be a manager at one home and a staff member at another.

Assign someone

  1. Open the home. Sidebar, Company Admin, the Homes tile, then Manage beside the home.

  2. Find the Home Members card — "Assign users to this home." Everyone already assigned is listed under Current Members, each with their role on a badge. When there is nobody it reads No members assigned.

  3. Under Assign New Member, pick the person, then the role. The list offers company users who are not already members of this home.

  4. Select Assign to Home.

The roles you can pick here

On screen What it means at this home
Staff The front-line baseline
Senior The senior dashboard on top of that baseline
Manager Manager dashboard, journal sign-off, incident review, version history

Someone must already be a member of your company before they can be assigned. If they are not, ARC refuses with "User must be a member of the company." And a person can only hold one role per home — a second attempt is refused with "User is already assigned to this home."

Removing someone

Select Remove beside their name; ARC asks you to confirm. This takes away their membership of that home. It does not delete their account, their company membership, or anything they wrote.

Removing a home membership does not revoke a DSL designation — that is separate, and revoked from the Designated Safeguarding Leads card on the same page. See Designate a DSL.

Two things that trip people up

"My home isn't in the switcher." The switcher lists direct home memberships only. Reaching a home another way — as a company admin, for example — does not put it in the list. The fix is a real membership, assigned here.

"It says I'm not assigned to this home." A company membership with no home membership gets an account and nothing else. Assign them to a home.

Changing someone's role at a home

There is no edit control on a member row. To change a role, Remove the person and assign them again with the new one.
