Manage users
Who is in your company, how to add someone, and why the role on this screen is not the role that matters.
Company Users is the list of everyone with access to your company. Sidebar, Company Admin, then the Users tile — "Everyone in the company and the homes they work at"
Each row shows the person's name, email and their company role, with Manage on the right.
The role in this list is not their working role
This trips people up, so take a moment.
There are two roles per person:
| Company role | Home role | |
|---|---|---|
| Shown on | This list | The home's page |
| Set from | This screen | Assign people to homes |
| Decides | Whether they are a company admin | Almost everything else |
Someone's ability to finalise a journal, review an incident, see the manager dashboard or write a plan comes from their role at the home they are working in — not from this list.
Setting someone's company role to Manager here does not make them a manager anywhere. The one company role that changes what a person can do is Company Admin.
Adding someone
Select Add User and ARC takes you straight to the staff onboarding wizard — "Opening the staff onboarding wizard…".
There is deliberately only one way in. The old three-field form let a staff member be created with none of the Schedule 2 recruitment evidence on file, so it was replaced by the wizard, which collects it.
If you would rather the person set their own account up, send an invite instead: Invite by email on the same page — see Invite staff and choose a role.
Managing someone
Manage on a person's row opens their HR record, not a settings page. That is where their profile, DBS, training and supervision live.
Making someone a company admin
You cannot invite a company admin — that is ARC's to do. You can promote an existing company member.
A company member's record at /admin/users/[their id] offers Name, Email
and a Role of Staff, Senior, Manager or Company Admin, with Save
Changes. Choosing Company Admin gives them company-wide access: every home,
billing, DSL designations, compliance rules and this list.
Treat it as the widest grant in ARC. There is no approval step and no second pair of eyes.
What you cannot do here
- Remove someone from the company. No delete exists on this screen.
- Disable an account. Blocking sign-in is an ARC operator action.
- Assign someone to a home. That is done from the home — see Assign people to homes. A company member with no home membership gets an account and nothing else.
