Today's care systems are good at storing records. They are far less good at helping anyone understand the young person those records are about. We built Arc to change that.
Most care systems are a set of modules that happen to share a database: incidents over here, journals over there, plans somewhere else. You file things into them, and at inspection you pull things back out.
Arc inverts that. Every feature is an input to a growing profile of a young person. A log written at 7:30am, a keywork conversation, a change to a care plan, a note about a phone call with mum — each one lands on that young person's single live record and stays there, in order, connected to what came before it.
Anyone can list what happened. Arc holds the thread: this log evidences that goal, which sits in that plan, which was written because of that incident. At any moment, staff, managers or an independent visitor under Regulation 44 can open a young person's profile and see a complete, structured understanding of what is happening, and why.
People who've done the shifts, not just designed the software.
Arc was designed and built by senior practitioners from children's residential care, with more than twenty years of combined experience inside children's homes, working alongside a senior software engineer.
That pairing matters. The people who know what a hard night on shift actually looks like decided what the record needed to be; the engineering made it fast, private and reliable. Neither half could have built Arc alone.
We're not here to serve companies. We're here to serve the people they're responsible for.
For the young person
A record should add up to an understanding of a young person, not a pile of documents about them. Everything in Arc connects back to the young person it's about.
For the people who do the work
Care workers carry enough. The system should take the admin weight off them and give the time back, not turn a hard shift into a harder evening of catching up.
For a record that tells the truth
Built as work happens, versioned and never overwritten. What actually occurred, in order, so the story stands up under supervision, review and inspection.
Better records are the means. The point is better days: for the young people in care, and for the workers who show up for them shift after shift. If Arc makes both a little easier, it's doing its job.
