The young person's profile at a glance
What the profile shows you before a shift, how to choose your quick links, and where each part of the record lives.
The profile is the front page of a young person's record. It is built to be read in the two minutes before you start a shift: what you must know, what has just happened, and what the team is working towards.
Opening a profile
Go to Children in the sidebar under Care & safeguarding, then open the young person. URLs and lists use a public ID rather than a name.
The card on the left
The card stays beside the record as you move between areas. It shows:
- the name, a status badge (Active, or Ended once a placement end date is recorded) and a Risk: badge reading Low, Medium or High. The risk badge is worked out from open incidents and recent high-severity logs; it is a prompt to read the record, not a rating of the young person.
- Social worker — the name, which opens your mail client when an email address is on file. It reads N/A when no name is recorded.
- Placed — the placement start date, shown only when one is recorded.
- Last activity — how long ago the most recent log was, or No recent activity.
Under those are two buttons: Log an event and Report an incident.
Quick links
Under the card is a Quick links list of shortcuts, with a small Edit button beside its heading. Edit opens a dialog headed Quick links: "Choose the links shown at the top of every young person's record."
Tick the links you want and select Save. You can choose from:
- Lists for [first name] — Daily Journals, Incidents and Tasks, each opening the home-wide list filtered to this young person.
- Record areas — each area of the record (Overview, Timeline, Plans and so on). Safeguarding is offered only to managers.
- Each area's own records — for example Appointments, Consents, Chats with [first name], Documents and Photos.
The choice belongs to you, not to the young person or the home. It is saved against your account, so you see the same links on every young person's record, on any device you sign in on. Until you choose, you see Daily Journals and Chats with [first name]. You can save an empty choice. If a link has since been removed from ARC, it is skipped.
A Medication shortcut is also shown unless you have ticked Medication yourself, so it is never listed twice. If saving fails, ARC says "Your quick links could not be saved. Try again."
The four counts
On Overview, four tiles: Active plans, Open incidents, Safeguarding and Open tasks. Each opens the list behind it. Where an open incident is high severity, the incident tile reads Open incidents · n high. The Safeguarding tile is shown to managers only.
Active plans counts plans whose status is Active, so a draft is not counted. Safeguarding counts exclude allegations against staff, so an allegation never surfaces to the wider team through the count. A plan a manager has deleted is not listed or counted.
Overview — read this first
The Overview area is ordered by what causes harm if missed.
- Important health information — allergies and medical conditions, shown only when something is recorded. View health care plan opens the record they come from.
- Health care plan is still a draft — shown when the young person's health care plan is not yet active. It says the plan's allergies, conditions and assessment dates are not shown or used until the plan is made active, and offers Open draft health care plan.
- No health care plan — shown when there is no health care plan at all, with Create health care plan.
- Risks and agreed approach — active risk assessments with their decision, and a Not read tag on any you have not yet acknowledged.
- Today and tomorrow — appointments and tasks pulled together, with an Overdue tag on late tasks.
- Recent activity — the last six timeline entries, with View full timeline.
- Current goals — goals across the active plans, with View plans.
A Needs attention panel appears above all of this for managers, and only when something is outstanding. It can say that plans are overdue for review, or that no chat has ever been recorded with the young person or the last one was a while ago.
A separate amber banner appears when no active activities and outings consent is recorded, with a Record consent link.
The record areas
The areas are listed in the card below the quick links. Each group heading opens that area's own page, and the links under it open individual records.
| Area | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Overview | The briefing described above |
| Timeline | The chronological spine of the record |
| Plans | Plans with their status and review date, and New plan for a manager |
| Care, health & education | Risk assessments, plus links to Medication, Appointments, Consents, Wishes & feelings and Statutory care planning |
| Safeguarding | Incidents and child protection concerns, plus a link to Complaints — shown to managers only |
| Daily life & records | Documents and Photos, plus links to Chats with [first name], Contact logs, Activities, Rewards, Sanctions, Incentives, Finances, Admissions, Weekly reports and Subject access export |
The area you have open is held in the page address, so a refresh or a shared link lands in the same place.
The profile photo
A manager or company admin sees a camera button on the avatar. Everyone else sees initials or the photo, with no edit control.
