Delete and restore a plan
How the home's manager deletes a plan made by mistake, what stays on record, and how to bring it back.
Only the home's manager can delete a plan. A deputy can edit a plan but cannot delete one. If a plan needs removing, ask your manager.
Deleting is for a plan made by mistake or for practice. To retire a real plan, set its status to Archived instead. Deleting never erases anything: the plan is kept, with your name, the date and your reason, and you can restore it.
Delete a plan
-
Open the plan, then select Delete plan. The dialog is headed Delete this plan? and runs in three steps.
-
Step 1: read what will happen. The dialog lists the effects for this plan: it disappears from plan lists, dashboards, reminders, inspection packs and exports; staff are no longer asked to confirm they have read it; it takes its goals and attached documents with it; and it is kept in Deleted plans with your name, the date and your reason, and recorded in the audit log. Select Continue, or Keep plan to stop.
-
Step 2: give a reason. The box is Why are you deleting this plan? and it needs at least 10 characters. The reason is kept with the deleted plan and in the audit log. Select Continue.
-
Step 3: type the plan's title. Type it exactly as shown; capital letters do not matter. If it does not match, ARC refuses with "Type the plan title exactly to confirm." Then select Delete plan. Back returns to the previous step.
What happens to its risk assessments
A plan's risk assessments are not deleted with it. They stay in force, and wherever the plan link would have been they carry a note: "The plan this risk assessment belonged to was deleted on [date]." The assessment's own page adds "This risk assessment is still in force." Staff are still asked to acknowledge it, and it is reached through the young person's record instead of the plan.
Find and read a deleted plan
On the Plans page, select Deleted plans (it is shown to the manager only). Each entry shows the plan type, a Deleted label, the young person, "Deleted by [name] on [date]" and the reason. Open one to read it in full. It is read-only, and nobody else in the home can see it.
Restore a plan
Open the deleted plan and select Restore plan. ARC asks you to confirm: "It will reappear everywhere it was shown before it was deleted." Once restored, the plan opens again on the young person's record and the deletion note on its risk assessments goes away.
