Rewards
Recording something a young person earned or was given, and why it mattered.
A reward is a single positive event — something earned or given that lines up with a young person's behaviour plan or incentive scheme. It's the counterpart to a sanction, and it is worth recording as carefully.
Record one
Open the young person's record, then Rewards under Daily life & records, and choose Record reward.
Two fields are required:
- Date and time — defaults to now
- What was given or earned — for example, extra screen time, a trip out, a praise certificate
Then, all optional but all worth filling in:
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Reason / alignment with behaviour plan | Which behaviour or goal this reinforces |
| Child's view | How they responded, in their own words where you can |
| Follow-up | Anything agreed, or next steps |
Child's view is the field an inspector looks for. It's shown apart from the staff narrative on the record so it can't be mistaken for your words.
Logged, then Reviewed
A saved reward reads Logged. When a manager signs it off it becomes Reviewed with a Signed off badge and their name.
A signed-off record is signed off once. A second attempt is refused with "This reward has already been signed off."
A manager can also send a record that is awaiting sign-off back to a named member of staff for changes, or undo a sign-off if something was missed. See Send a record back for changes, or undo a sign-off.
Editing
Update reopens the form, and only the fields you change are sent — so adding the young person's view a day later leaves the original description and reason exactly as they were.
Rewards and points are separate
Recording a reward does not move a points balance, and spending points does not create a reward. If your home runs an incentive scheme, log the points on Incentives as well.
