The registered person's quality-of-care review: what ARC gathers for you, what you write, and how the actions arising become tasks.

A Regulation 45 review is the registered person's review of the quality of care across the whole home — not a single young person. ARC gathers the period's evidence, you write the narrative, and the improvement actions you list become trackable tasks the moment a manager signs it off.

It lives inside Reports, in the sidebar under Compliance, and uses the shared lifecycle described in Reports: compile, review, submit, retain.

What ARC counts for you

Creating the record compiles the period's evidence from the source records, so you are not counting by hand:

  • Total incidents
  • Physical interventions
  • Missing-from-care episodes
  • Complaints received
  • Children in placement

The first four are scoped to the period you set. The children count is taken at the moment of compiling — it is a snapshot of now, not of the period.

What you write

Select New Reg 45 report. The dialog is headed New Regulation 45 review.

Set the Period start and Period end first — the counts above depend on them, and the default title is built from the period end. Then, under Views gathered:

  • Children's views
  • Parents / carers' views
  • Placing authorities' views
  • Staff views

Then Overall assessment of quality of care — the registered person's assessment for the period.

Actions arising become tasks

Under Actions arising, select Add action for each improvement item and give it a title and, if you want, a due date. The helper text is exact about what happens: "Each action becomes a Task when the report is submitted through the manager review gate."

That is worth being precise about:

  • Nothing is created while the report is Compiling or In review.
  • The tasks appear at the moment a manager selects Submit report.
  • Each becomes an open task on the home, described as "Arising from Reg 45 report: [the title]", carrying whatever due date you set.
  • Because submission can only happen once, the tasks are created once. You will not get duplicates.

An action with no title is skipped.

The six-month cadence

Next review due (optional) is yours to set — ARC does not calculate it. The helper text reads "Reg 45 reviews are at least six-monthly. A due date surfaces on the manager dashboard until the report is submitted." Leave it unsubmitted past that date and the card carries an Overdue badge.
