WHERE THIS LIVES IN ARC
Sidebar Care & safeguarding Safeguarding

The Safeguarding page lists every safeguarding concern in the home in one place, so a DSL can see what is open across all the young people without opening each safeguarding file in turn. Its subtitle reads "Every safeguarding concern in this home. Open concerns first; select one to open it."

Who sees it

The Safeguarding item in the sidebar, under Care & safeguarding, is shown only to a person designated as a DSL. The designation is separate from the Safeguarding Lead role; see Designate a DSL.

If you open the page without the designation, it reads "Only a designated safeguarding lead for this home can see its safeguarding concerns."

What is on the page

Two sections, Open concerns and Closed concerns, each with a count. An empty section reads "No open safeguarding concerns." or "No closed safeguarding concerns yet."

  • Open concerns are listed newest first by the date they were logged. A concern that is Under review is still in this section and carries an Under review pill.
  • Closed concerns are listed most recently closed first.

Each row shows the concern's title, the start of its summary, the young person, and its reference, when it was logged, who raised it, and, for a closed concern, when it was closed. Pills can appear on the right:

Pill Meaning
Under review The concern's status is Under review
Allegation against staff The concern is flagged as an allegation against a member of staff
Private to DSL The concern was raised with its visibility set to private
High risk The concern's risk level is High

Select a row, or Open, to open the concern in that young person's safeguarding file. To end one, see Close a safeguarding concern.

What the list leaves out

The list shows what you are allowed to open. Allegations are included, but a concern about you is never shown to you, whatever else you hold; see Allegations against staff.

If the page cannot load, it says "The safeguarding concerns could not be loaded." and suggests refreshing the page.
