Dashboard Needs attention Read and confirm

Plans in ARC are written by the manager or deputy and are not sent round for approval. Instead, everyone else confirms they have read them. Your confirmation is the record that the plan reached you — so confirm it after you have read it, not to clear the badge.

Confirming a plan

  1. Open the plan. Either from the Read and confirm group on your dashboard's Needs attention tab, or from the young person's profile under Plans.

  2. Read it. An amber banner at the top says "This plan (v1) needs your confirmation. Please read it and confirm you've understood the current version."

  3. Select Confirm I've read v1. The number is the version in front of you.

The banner turns green: "You confirmed you've read v1 of this plan on [date]."

You can only confirm a version you have opened. The preview of the dashboard row says so: "You confirm on the plan itself, after you have opened it." If ARC has no record of you opening that version, confirming is refused with "Please read the plan, then confirm again." The page reloads, which records the opening, and you can confirm.

What is waiting for you

The Needs attention tab on your dashboard lists the live plans in the home whose current version you have not confirmed, under Read and confirm, with the young person, the plan type and the version number. A plan clears from that list as soon as you confirm it.

Only live plans are asked about. Drafts and archived plans are not.

A revision reopens it

Confirmations are recorded against a version number. When the manager saves a change, the version goes up and everyone who had confirmed the old one is asked again. The person who made the change is confirmed automatically — authors are not asked to confirm their own work.

So a plan you cleared last week can come back. That is the mechanism working: the plan changed, and the point is that you have read the version that is now in force.

Who is asked

Every member of the home, whatever the role. A manager who did not write the plan is asked in the same way as a support worker.
